About the Appeal

Afghanistan is not just facing devastation from an earthquake and flood. It’s facing an earthquake and flood in the face of crippling sanctions and seizure of $7 billion of assets, all after decades of war. To say the Afghans are vulnerable right now would be an understatement.
The recent earthquake was the deadliest in Afghanistan since 1998, killing over 1000 and injuring at least 6000. Recent floods have already taken at least 180 lives and destroyed more than 3100 homes.
As such, an opportunity has opened for us to support them.
FINANCIAL RELIEF
PHASE 1
The needs of the Afghan families affected by the earthquake and floods are variable. Some need support for food. Others need money for rebuilding destroyed homes. To address this, we will be providing assistance to individual families in need in the form of money packages.

REBUILDING INITIATIVE
PHASE 2
In “phase 2” we will be taking on rebuilding initiatives of essential infrastructure in affected communities. This may be repairing schools, wells, bridges, or Masajid.
At this moment, we still need to gather more information on what structures are in the direst need of rebuilding. We hope to have this information soon, and thereafter open appeals for you to support these rebuilding efforts.
